NEW YORK 12.15.05 (Video)|(Audio)|(Photo's) — Speaking publicly about her hearing loss for the first time, Foxy Brown held a press conference Thursday where it was revealed that the rapper hasn't heard another person's voice for months and has needed someone to tap out beats on her shoulder.
"To suddenly lose your hearing after 10 years as a professional artist, I questioned God: 'Why me?' " — Foxy Brown As she fought back tears, Brown delivered an emotional speech about the onset of her sudden, profound and severe hearing loss this past spring, while she was recording her forthcoming album, Black Roses. Foxy revealed in October that she'd been diagnosed with severe and sudden sensorineural hearing loss in both ears. On Thursday Brown said she hasn't heard another person's voice in more than six months and that she's spent "many confusing, agonizing nights crying in isolation and silence" with only "the voice of God in my ears as a vessel of inspiration. To suddenly lose your hearing after 10 years as a professional artist, I questioned God: 'Why me?' "
"She will hear again. She is a strong candidate for restoration," the doctor proclaimed, adding that the recovery time following the operation differs from patient to patient but should be brief for Foxy. Brown has already undergone one surgery to correct her failed hearing. Since Brown lost her hearing in May, she has communicated with others via handwritten notes and e-mails; she has not elected to wear a hearing aid. She's learned how to read lips and can still speak quite well, Arias said. For the moment, Brown said, completing Black Roses is the last thing on her mind. She said she's excited to undergo surgery next month and will be "racing back to the studio the moment God affords me the opportunity to hear again."
Fresh also said that when Brown was in the studio with Diddy recently to record a track for the upcoming Notorious B.I.G. album, Duets: The Final Chapter (see "Biggie Duets LP Features Eminem, Snoop, Tupac, Nas, Ludacris"), someone had to tap the beat of the song on her shoulder, so that she could keep her rhymes on pace. The track didn't make the album's final cut, and Fresh said he wasn't sure what would come of the tune, which might be used as a B-side to a Duets single or make its way onto Black Roses. Earlier this month, Brown appeared in a New York courtroom for what was to be the start of her trial for assault and harassment charges stemming from an August 2004 dispute at a New York nail salon (see "Foxy Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Nail-Salon Assault"). At that hearing Judge Melissa Jackson adjourned the proceedings until December 23 after Brown's then-attorney, Joseph Tacopina, revealed that his client was almost totally deaf. Brown has since retained new counsel; Tacopina was let go for disclosing Brown's condition. — Chris Harris
MORE Foxy you certainly have been and still are in my prayers. This should be your ONE and ONLY focus right now. You truely deserve the best and with God's grace your hearing will fully be restored. You define the word Determination and I know one way or another you will find your way. I Love you Fox. Your Boy Nick aka FBB.
12|7|05 - Tacopina fired for "False" details.
Foxy appeared at Manhattan Criminal Court Monday to face charges that she assaulted two Chelsea manicurists. While being questioned by the press, Tacopina told reporters that Brown's hearing loss had worsened. "She is pretty much totally deaf," Tacopina was quoted by the New York Post. "This hearing loss is truly a tragedy." Foxy was actually at her lawyer's side when the comments were made, and despite whatever hearing condition she might have she was unhappy enough to fire her lawyer for the unauthorized public testimony, particularly since she says the details Tacopina shared were inaccurate. Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) president Benjamin Chavis told the New York Post Tacopina was canned "for giving improper and inappropriate statements to the press about her medical condition when she had requested of him not to make any statements to the press about anything other than her legal case. "She felt the attorney went too far, and therefore he was dismissed on the spot," Chavis added. "She heard him say things she had not authorized him to say about her health." While Tacopina has confirmed that he is no longer representing Foxy, he claims the decision had nothing to do with any discussions about her hearing loss, particularly since he says she authorized him to talk in court about her medical condition. "I hope they're not using that as a cover," Tacopina told The Post. "We parted ways because of a difference of opinion about how to proceed with her case." As far as Tacopina's comments about the hearing loss he said, "She wanted me to explain to the judge that she can't hear. That was done on the record." Tacopina also said that he spoke about Foxy's condition to reporters only because they were in court and asked him about it. Foxy Brown's current court woes stem from an August 2004 incident, when two workers at a Chelsea manicure shop said she struck them after they confronted her about an unpaid bill for a manicure and pedicure. Brown said she never received the manicure, and that she was locked inside the salon during the dispute. Source : www.sohh.com the Article from the NY Post is in the Goodies Section.
12|5|05 - Foxy Brown Court & Audio Update! NEW YORK - Rapper Foxy Brown is almost totally deaf, her lawyer said Monday.
Attorney Joseph Tacopina disclosed Brown’s hearing problem after a question about why they exchanged notes while waiting in Manhattan Criminal Court for her case to be called on an unresolved 2004 assault charge.
“She’s pretty much totally deaf now,” Tacopina said. “She can’t hear me. We have to write things back and forth. Anything I have to communicate with her now has to be written.” Brown, 25, revealed during a court appearance in September that she would soon undergo surgery to try to correct her hearing. Obviously straining to hear questions, she refused to discuss the possible cause of the problem. Tacopina said Monday the prognosis from that surgical procedure is still undetermined, but “hopefully it (the condition) is reversible. She has to undergo another surgery.” Meanwhile, Judge Melissa Jackson adjourned Brown’s case until Dec. 23 when, Tacopina said, he expects it will be resolved. Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment. Brown has rejected at least two misdemeanor plea deals that would have let her avoid any jail time for allegedly assaulting two nail salon workers on Aug. 29, 2004, in a fight over payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails in Manhattan’s Chelsea district. Prosecutors alleged that Brown, with a cell phone clutched in her closed fist, attacked and kicked one worker, and hit a second worker in the face. Under the proposed plea deal, Brown would have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and served 10 days of community service. “I’m innocent,” Brown said at the time. “I feel like I’m being railroaded.” Tacopina said they rejected the offer because he wanted Brown to plead guilty to a disorderly conduct violation, an offense less serious than a misdemeanor. Tacopina said in September that the complainants in the case, the nail salon workers, “don’t want to proceed. This is a waste of their time, her (Brown’s) time, and the public’s time.” However, he said Monday that he also did not want to expose Brown to an easy civil lawsuit by allowing her to plead to assault. “We’re concerned about the motives of others,” he said. “She’s been seen as a bull’s-eye for a quick payday.” Brown’s latest CD, "Black Roses," is expected to be released soon. October 20, 2005 - Foxy Brown was on hand at the Bayan Citispa's Grand Opening. On hand with Foxy was her girl Marvette Britto who happens to be one of the best publicists in the Biz.
I'm not sure what type of store this is, it has a Boutique type feel to it. It seems to be owned and operated by people of Asian Ethnicity. To some this may come as a surprise considering Foxy Brown is going to Court on Dec. 5th because of a so-called dispute over a bill with the Korean Owners of a nail salon in Soho.
It just goes to show you, people always want to make Foxy out to be a "Crazy lady" or say, "she's off the end", when in fact, Foxy is just like you and I. Completely Normal, but incredibly gifted.
Even in such trying times, with her current hearing condition, the loss of an Aunt Foxy is still trying to keep positive and busy... That is a great sign, don't forget to keep Foxy in your prayers. God hear's us all, and the louder the voices, the better the response! Foxy Brown in PEOPLE Magazine!
10.14.05 - What Foxy Brown remembers most about the morning of May23 is the eerie quiet. The night before, the rapper had fallen asleep with the television blaring, but when she got up, no sound seemed to be coming from it. "I pressed the volume to maybe 60. Nothing," says Brown. " I ran outside to my truck and honked the horn. Nothing. I ran back inside and dialed a number on the phone. Nothing. Then I started breaking down in tears and screaming and I couldn't even hear myself scream. That's when I knew there was a problem." Three days later Brown was diagnosed with severe sudden sensorineural hearing loss, a little-understood condition that affects one in 10,000 people without warning, often the result of a viral infection. Most suffer loss in only one ear and, when treated early, the condition can be reversible. But Brown has lost her hearing in both ears and has, so far, not responded well to treatment. "Her case is severe," says Dr. Anil Lalwani, an otologist whom Brown has consulted. "In only 1 or 2 percent of the cases are both ears affected." For months Brown tried to hide the loss, hoping medication and surgery might restore it. Now, as she weighs further options, she is speaking out for the first time. "I have been deaf for four months," says Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand. She talked to People's Sharon Cotliar about her regret that she didn't act sooner when she felt her hearing "slipping away" and hopes that speaking out will help others. There were signs for a few days before. My phone would be ringing and my Blackberry would be going off and people would be "Yo Foxy, your Blackberry." And I'd hear it. It would be a delayed relaction but I'd still hear it. One day I was in the studio, putting the finishing touches on my fourth album," Black Roses", and my friend (and Def Jam Records president) Jay-Z walked in to approve the mix. As soon as he heard it he was like,"Yo, what's that? Does this sound normal to you, Inga?" I was like "Of course it does. What do you mean?" Then he told me, "Baby Girl, we have a problem because this is ridiculously loud. I could never put this on the radio." At first I just thought Jay was giving me a hard time. But the next day, he and I did an interview at a radio station. I remember conversing with the on-air personality. I was hearing her fine, but the minute I had to take callers, I couldn't hear them. I would say, "What are they saying?" It was embarassing, because the people in the studio were looking at me like, "What do you mean? Don't you hear them? This is crazy loud." I said, "No, turn them up." But they couldn't turn it up any higher. The next day, I was at a photo shoot. I was hearing the music fine. I said to myself,"Yesterday I wasn't hearing the phone, but today I'm hearing the music, so maybe this hearing loss is from a flight." My mom's sister passed away the morning after the shoot. I remember hearing my mom and aunts downstairs in the living roon crying hysterically. And I got on the phone to call a couple of people. But when we went to the funeral parlor, I had a problem hearing the funeral director explaining the arrangements. All along I'm feeling my hearing go slowly, but I'm thinking, God would never do this. This can never happen to me. I'm perfectly healthy. I'm 26 years old. I'm young and people just don't go deaf overnight. The morning of the funeral, I woke up and I couldn't hear anything. Not the TV, not my car horn, not the dial tone on the phone. Of course I still had to go to the funeral. I sat in the front row and I couldn't hear the choir. Jay-z was there and I said, "Jay, I think I'm deaf." He was like, "You can't be deaf." But I knew. I said, "Monday morning, we need to find a doctor." The initial doctor I went to told me that if I attacked the problem when I first realized my hearing was going, I probably would have been able to heal it immediately, but because I waited for about a week and continued to work and work and put pressure on my ear, that's what really damaged it. He put me on a steroid called Prednisone and an antiviral medicine. I went home with the false hope that taking this medication would work. After two weeks on the drugs, none of my hearing came back. I thought, I'm not telling anybody this. I'm going to keep this a secret. I'm going to try to go on normally. I'm going to pretend I can hear. So for a few weeks I was reading lips. I was pretending that I can hear but I'm speaking really loudly so that didn't earn me any cool points. People would see me in the street and say, "Foxy we love you," and I wouldn't hear them, and they would think I was being disrespectful. One of my closest friends is Naomi Campbell. She kept calling me and saying "Call me," and instead I would e-mail her. Finally she was like, "Inga, what's wrong? Why don't you call me?" And I had to tell her I couldn't hear her over the phone. She freaked out. She said, "I'm coming to New York and we have to fix this." So she did some research and found me another specialist. I saw her June 8. The doctor told me I have severe damage to my ears and that I needed surgery right away. Her words to me were, "If you ever want to hear again, we need to do this surgery." I said, "on both ears?" She said yes. Two days later I went to the hospital. The doctor wanted to go in and patch possible leaks in the inner ear that could have been the cause for the hearing loss. That was the last thing I had, that surgery. Before the surgery, my hearing was zero. After the surgery,it went up to 20 percent. So at first I was thinking,"Wow,maybe next week it will be 40 percent and after that it will be 60." But it didn't work like that. It remained a little over 20 percent, which really wasn't that much of a difference. So now my issue was, "What do I tell the record company? What do I tell Jay? What do I tell my fans?" I gotta tell you, when you go through a crisis, you really see who is there for you. Without mentioning any names, a lot of people that I thought would be there through thick and thin have completely disappeared. Because I couldn't hear, I was no longer useful to them. I couldn't put a record out. So it was basically like, "Okay we will see you when you get better." But that only made me stronger. I decided when they see me, I'm going to be the same Foxy, looking head to toe gorgeous. I'm going to try to be normal- even though every night I would cry myself to sleep. Every morning I would get up and try to look my best and try to feel my best. I know God is working on me. I'mon a personal journey. I believe God wants to be the only voice I hear right now. Every day I pray for an answer. I don't want to come away from this not having learned God's lesson. The doctor's aren't saying that it's definite that I won't hear again. This is another reason I am speaking out. I believe there is a doctor somewhere- it could be the outskirts of Wisconsin or Iowa- who could say, "I know exactly what this girl needs." They say I may be able to hear with a (cochlear) implant. [An implant would give "much more auditory information," says Dr. Lalwani. "It would let her use a telephone, and it may be sufficient for her to get tonality back and be a musician."] I know it will be an uphill battle. For now I am taking a break. But I will definitely be back. I still write. I write the best music when I'm going through pain. Sometimes I think, "What if I don't get my hearing back?" But then a second later I think God loves me. He will make a way. I know I will be all right. I'm not Foxy Brown right now. I'm Inga Marchand. I'm just a girl that wants to get better. To all the Foxy Fans... If you can, say a prayer for Foxy, the more the better. This is DEFINATELY Foxy's biggest obstical to overcome. Hopefully with the grace of God support of her friends, family and fans she can. Foxy truely is the greatest Female MC and has been plaqued with many hardships throughout her career unfortunately this was uncontrolable or self inflicted. Try to be patient, it's been years since Broken Silence and like us Foxy is only Human. I love you Fox. Hold ya Head Baby... FoxBrownBoy. Click Here for the Articles and Pictures.
Foxy Brown has just recorded a new track for The Notorious B.I.G.’s upcoming Duets album. Though recent reports have revealed a hearing problem, the Ill Na Na continues to put in work. She was back in the studio this past weekend, at the request of Puff Daddy…uh, Diddy, for a first-time collaboration with the other half of “Brooklyn’s Finest.” The still untitled track features Foxy alongside Biggie and fellow Brooklyn-rapper Fabolous. The album, entitled The Notorious B.I.G. Duets: The Final Chapter, has been in the making for a couple of years now, but is scheduled to be released on November 29th.
As previously reported by BET.com Foxy Brown will also be working on her book Broken Silence with former Editor in Cheif of the Source Magazine, Kim Osario.

NY Daily News Reports on Foxy's Book Deal!
FOXY BROWN TO PUBLISH MEMOIRS
Brown tapped BET.com’s newly appointed Music Executive Editor Kim Osorio to help her write, and although she is only 26, her seemingly turbulent life since entering the rap game should make for a great read. With recent whispers of the rapper losing her hearing, there should be enough drama to make this book a juicy one.
Also, the pictures of Foxy from Joe Jackson's Birthday Bash @ the Roxy are in the Gallery.
Aight first off. Maino was at Foxy's party like I said, but, he was not chillin with Foxy and he was not invited. He basically just wants to dickride Fox now cuz Kim is in jail.
The reason there was NO VIDEO for CFWM was because of Foxy's current condition. It had nothing to do with the people at DefJam not supporting the song. Jay felt it would be in Foxy's best interest if she waited until she could Fully deliver.
Hopefully, Mouse will relay this to Foxy. I told him how we're all kinda feining for some new Material from Foxy and how everyone thinks it's label issues etc. So i suggested that they leak a song or give us a mixtape cut, now there is NO Guarentee but, he said he would let Fox know. With that said, I mentioned Fox Five and who is Fox 5 exactly. Fox Five is Fox, Gav, Mouse and Rah Dolla. They are missing a 5th Member, and they plan on releasing a Mixtape with Clue or Envy too. and NO the 5th member is not Gravy. I guess we can say he done fucked up by giving the impression that Foxy was going to rap with that Miami chick.
Still wondering why Lil Kim got 5 Mic's... Well the industry is talking and what they are saying is her best friend Hilary is FUCKIN Dave Maze. Hmm, seems like it could be true. Cuz that album is Far from Classic's like Reasonable Doubt and Illmatic.
Oh! and if your wondering what Ear Foxy has the condition with, it's the Right one, and this will be her second surgery.
And that's Pretty much it for now, I'll have more Juice for yall on October 8th after I see Foxy @ the Roxy. "Up in VIP with FB!"
9/26/05 - Wussup People?! Last night I attended Foxy Brown’s 26th Birthday Bash at Ruby Fall’s in Manhattan. It was a great night. The club itself was just so upscale, a perfect place to have a Foxy Brown birthday Bash.
In typical Foxy style, Foxy showed up late, missing nearly half of her party, the party started at 11:00 Pm. Foxy didn’t stroll in until about 2:30 – 2:45 in the morning. By that point the party was Jamn Packed, people wall to wall, just popping Chris and partying it up in classic New York hip hop Style. Upon her arrival she was escorted to the VIP area, we’re Foxy and I exchanged a few words. She reached out for me, gave me a Huge Hug and a Kiss. She told me she loved me and also thanked me for the support and unfortunately, she had to keep it moving. As you know NYC Clubs can get kinda crazy, so they had to escort Foxy out of the VIP area only 20 minutes after her arrival. Some of Foxy's industry friends did show up for the event, I’m not sure where Naomi was but…. Don Pooh, Kim Osario, Red Café, Gravy and I believe they said Sizzla was in the building. There could have been more people but, they were probably in the private area or like everyone else, I was just too hyped over Foxy to notice. On a scale of One to Ten, Foxy’s party was a TEN! She looked amazing, and the crowd was just so live! She was glowing with happiness, it truly was a night to remember! Shout out to Mousey, he gave me the pass for VIP so I was able to chill with Foxy’s people and greet Foxy on her way in. Foxy truly is hip hops Queen, when they threw on Come Fly With Me, the club went into a frenzy. Young and Old, Male and Female, everyone was chanting the lyrics, it was almost surreal, she got so much love. It must have felt great for her, especially after all these years and all the trials she had to endure. She sure did make my night! All and all, I have to say Foxy is the chick I thought she’d be, nice, humble, fun and beautiful. I hope everything with her surgery goes good. Good Luck Foxy, you are in our prayers! Black Roses should hit stores around December or January! Good Luck and God Bless Fox, we got you! For pictures from the event proceed to the Gallery. I wanna give a BIG Shout to Young MOUSE.
Foxy to take a Hiatus for Ear Surgery.
Brooklyn rapper Foxy Brown announced yesterday (Sept. 22) that she plans to temporarily stop performing to undergo surgery for a hearing defect.
Brown briefly fielded questions after making an appearance in a Manhattan Criminal Court on assault charges. As she strained to hear reporters, Brown revealed that she plans to seek treatment for her hearing impairment. Although she didn’t make public details about the hearing problem, she did indicate that an operation was planned soon. She also denoted that she plans to finish her new CD and that Sunday would be her last public appearance until further notice. Brown made a brief appearance in court to address legal problems she’s facing over an alleged fight with two Manhattan nail salon workers. Prosecutors allege that the female rapper assaulted one worker with a close fist while kicking her. She is also alleged to have hit a second worker in the face, authorities said. Judge Martin Murphy set a trial date for Dec. 5 after Marchand rejected at least two misdemeanor plea deals that would have let her avoid any jail time for the alleged assault. Under the plea deal proposed by the Manhattan district attorney's office, Brown would have served only 10 days of community service. She’s been charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment. "I'm innocent," proclaimed Foxy Thursday from the steps of the courthouse. "I feel like I'm being railroaded." Brown's lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, denied that she committed a misdemeanor and confidently noted that if they go to trial, she will be acquitted. Tacopina also indicated that the complainants "don't want to proceed. This is a waste of their time, her (Brown's) time, and the public's time." Tacopina went on to say that he would consider a plea to disorderly conduct, an offense that is less than a misdemeanor, but that the prosecutors have yet to offer such a deal. Foxy Brown appeared in Criminal Court yesterday on a charge of assaulting a salon worker.
Hip-hop diva Foxy Brown rolled back to court yesterday in her shiny silver Bentley, but she wouldn't - and couldn't - hear of a plea deal on charges she attacked a manicurist.
The Manhattan district attorney's office offered Brown 10 days of community service yesterday if she pleaded guilty to third-degree assault for allegedly punching and kicking the woman in Chelsea last August. But Brown, 25, couldn't hear the details of the no-jail plea deal in Manhattan Criminal Court because she recently had surgery on both ears. Her lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, however, didn't miss a syllable and rejected the proposal. "I will not have her plead guilty to a misdemeanor," Tacopina said. "Disorderly conduct is a different ball of wax. That's something she would consider," he said, explaining disorderly conduct would be a violation that would not give the glammed-up rapper a criminal record. Outside of the courthouse, Brown appeared to have no problems hearing reporters' questions. "I'm fine. I'm going to be okay," she said. Though she declined to discuss her surgery or her criminal case, she happily disclosed that her satin shirt, which was the color of a copper rose, and dark pinstripe pants were by Gucci. Her bag was Channel, she said. Brown was arrested Aug. 29 for allegedly assaulting manicurist Myoung Yi at Bloomie Nails. The two were arguing over Brown's demand that the woman finish both a manicure and pedicure before closing up shop, authorities said. Brown, who has been concentrating on her new album, "Black Rose," said her hearing problems will not prevent her from calling a news conference next week to promote the album's release.

"We got this shot where it's me and Jay, it's like the famous shot where Kennedy is talking to his brother. That feels like 'Damn, I'm right here.' " — Kanye West "We're live on MTV News at the XXL photo shoot. This is your anchorman Peedi Crakk, Crakk Daddy, signing on," he says in a deep monotone as Kanye West walks in. "Yeah, what up, Kanyeezee live!" he continues, not breaking his faux-newsman character. "Kanyeezee, ladies and gentlemen!" Peedi and Kanye join Foxy Brown, Memphis Bleek, DJ Clue, the Young Gunz, NBA All-Star LeBron James, 17-year-old singer Teairra Mari, and the head of the family — Jay-Z — for an XXL cover shoot at a studio in New York's Chelsea Piers. "It's the whole Roc family and a presidential theme, that's why I'm looking classy and classic," Teairra Mari, the young lady Jay has dubbed "The Princess of the Roc," said of the shoot's concept as she stood in a mock Oval Office wearing a black veil, white blouse and black skirt. "It's a very '60s-ish vibe, it's JFK and the whole cabinet. It's great." "It's the first time we're taking the Roc's new generation — it's sort of a re-launching of the Roc," says Jay-Z, dressed in a swank blue suit. "I just wanted to show the artists, and show the reach with LeBron James." Jay says James' inclusion in the shoot is just a show of solidarity between chums and nothing more — especially not a business relationship. "It's absolutely no Def Jam Sports or anything like that," Jay says, quashing a rumor that he might be managing LeBron. "No tampering going on; just a good friend of mine. He's been a friend since before he was in the NBA. If you look back on the tapes, I'm there at the McDonald's High School [All-American] games, supporting him. We're just friends, we have no business dealings at all. I can't do it because I have an interest: I sit on the board of the [New Jersey] Nets. It's a conflict." Jay also clarified that LeBron will not be signing to the Roc as a rapper or, for that matter, rhyming at all: The superstar is sticking to the court. "I want him to be the greatest," Jay says. "My job is to keep him focused, not to take him outside of his arena." The side of the studio where Jay and company are getting dressed is hectic but loose. Freeway is walking around wearing a dress shirt, tie and his boxers; stylists are frantically scurrying over to the Gunnerz for last-minute tie changes; Kanye is playing Common's new video for LeBron on his laptop; and Memphis Bleek is searching for a cool hat to rock. Meanwhile, on the Oval Office set on the other side of the studio, you can see various members taking flicks while songs from Kanye's forthcoming Late Registration and Foxy Brown's Black Roses play at full volume. From the way Jay raps along and bobs his head to the music, it's obvious Mr. Prez gives his approval. "Kanye is his own institution," Hova says. "He knows what he wants and he has pretty good taste. Like, when it comes to singles, he'll come and we'll discuss what should be next, but as far as music-making — if I hear something I might say, 'You should add a little bit of choir right there' — but as far as music goes, that's what he does. That's his strong point. So I just leave him alone. He does the whole thing." No one at the Roc, with the exception of Jay himself, has gotten busier lately than Kanye West, who will be featured on the front cover of the mag along with Jay, LeBron and Foxy (the rest of the crew has been relegated to the interior of the gatefold cover). "Ever since I got my [Roc] chain, I felt like I was in the game," Kanye says before diving into lunch. "We got this shot where it's me and Jay, it's like the famous shot where Kennedy is talking to his brother. That feels like, 'Damn, I'm right here. This is Jay, I'm right next to him.' It's an incredible feeling. It's overwhelming. I got this song, the first song on the album, that says, 'I think I died in the accident, 'cause this must be heaven.' "Sometime I wonder, 'Damn, am I still on earth?' " West continues. " 'Is this real life I'm living?' I can make things happen. I want a video like this and it happens. I want my artists to be successful — John Legend goes platinum, Common is a success." Shooting the cover of XXL with her entire musical family was surreal experience for Teairra as well. "I can't believe that, this time just last year, I was looking at these people on TV," Mari, whose debut single, "Make Her Feel Good," has become a hit, marveled. "Now I'm here, and they're embracing me. It feels great." "We're making history," says Peedi — who, since the shoot, has changed his name to Peedi Peedi — as he stands with Freeway, who is now fully dressed in a black suit, hat and shades ("I just got fresh to death," Free smiles). "This is the front cover, the new Roc-A-Fella family. Jay is controlling the whole set. We're here representing, promoting. I feel like a hip-hop hero." The Roc issue of XXL is on some newsstands now, but hits nationally next week. — Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Sway Calloway Source: www.mtv.com ~>In Additional News, "Feenin' for it" by Teairra Mari will feature Foxy Brown. Teairra Mari's Debut album is due in stores next month.
Sizzla Kalonji and Foxy Brown's combination single Come Fly With Me has taken off on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. This week the track zooms from number 77 to land at 60. Source: JamaicaObserver.com 06.08.05- Jay-Z Jumps On 3 Tracks... NEW YORK — For just about a decade, Jay-Z and Foxy Brown have been known as one of rap's highest-profile Bonnie and Clyde pairings. But this year, the dynamic has changed just a little. Instead of being two friends signed to the same label, Foxy is now an artist on Jay's Roc-A-Fella label. So how does President Carter handle working with Foxy now? "Same way," he insisted recently. "One way. Whatever [my opinion] is, I voice it; if I don't like it or if I love it. The same way. "I'm rough, I'm tough, but fair," he added with a chuckle. Brown's Black Roses is almost done (see "Foxy Brown Planning Comeback With Help From Jay-Z, Shyne"), and its star says she's welcomed every bit of input from Jay. "He's the cherry on the top," she said. "He'll come in at the end and say, 'This needs to be tweaked here. You need to say this like this.' Or 'You need more cadence.' " "It's coming along just as I've imagined it," Jay said of the album. "We're going through it, we're having our clashes, it's all perfect. The music is coming out amazing, though." So amazing that Hova has been inspired to rap on least three songs with Fox. Even she's surprised by that. "Jay wants to jump on every record," she smiled. "I'll come in the studio and I'll hear a verse [already recorded], like, 'Where did that come from?' But I love that. Jay is in a class by himself and doesn't easily get on people's records. For him to want to be such a part of my music means I'm doing a great job. There's definitely a 'Bonnie and Clyde' [part] four, five and six on my album. "Nobody can touch the project without Jay's approval," she continued. "I told him the other day I'm still humbled in his presence. I'm honored to be around him because I learned from him something new every day. It takes a strong person to humble me. I've worked very hard. I believe in people that are genuinely for you and not just have hidden agendas. Jay is genuinely for Foxy. Our relationship supersedes music. We've been friends since I was a little girl." Unlike the last regime that ran Def Jam, Foxy said, Jay-Z has encouraged her to pursue her heritage and explore her love of Caribbean music. "The last album, Broken Silence, I did the reggae and hip-hop," she recalled. "My parents are Trinidadian, and that's my culture. I wanted to incorporate dancehall, reggae and soca into hip-hop. The powers that be at Def Jam weren't having it. I said, 'Screw y'all, I'm doing it anyway.' I did ['Oh Yeah']. [For this album] Jay said, 'You're the only one that can do that, let's stick with that.' " Fox's first single is called "Come Fly With Me" and features dancehall legend Sizzla. "I wanted to go to the left," Brown said. "Everybody expected a radio-friendly record, or a pop record, or a gutter record. ['Come Fly With Me'], it's rock, dancehall, hip-hop — you can't classify this record. Sizzla is one of my best friends, and he's the hottest artist in Jamaica right now. My brother did the beat. When I first heard the beat, I didn't understand it because there were so many things going on. And Sizzla just started 'Come flyyy with me.' I was like, 'That's it. Go in the studio, go do it.' I came with 'Nana got a new drop top. Come ride with me.' " Black Roses is due August 23.
Foxy's follow up to Broken Silence flirts with a reggae-rap hybrid, complete with an island flavored cameo by Sizzla on the CD's first single, "Come Fly With Me." In addition to beats by Swiss Beats, Kanye West, and her brother Gavin Marchand, she's bringing a very big gun out of retirement for a guest rap : Jay- Z (that's Mr. Label President to you.) Most likely to make you forget about her nail salon brawl. 05.11.05 - Foxy On Angie's Show! New Joint! Foxy Brown and Jay-Z were up in the building today to give Angie, Foxy’s new single. The Single is called "Come Fly with Me' featuring Sizzla. The Single is Blazin hott, the version we have is the Hip Hop version. There is also a Dance Hall version on the way.
The Album is dropping July 26th! It’s about time baby, and this date is from the mouth of Jay-Z. So I think it’s pretty official. Foxy also spoke briefly and the situation with that chick from Miami. She also spoke about the Trial and what really went down at the Nail Salon, she mentioned something about how they wanted her to be part of Kim's trial, but it didn't happen. I was lucky enough to get on the phone with Fox for a minute before my phone got disconnected. We spoke briefly, she actually remembered me SURPRISE, she told me there is a female Rapper on the album. Not sure which one! Like i said I got cut off before she could tell me. I think it’s Lauryn Hill. But we’ll find out July 26th! Aight, that’s enough talking, time for Business. Click on the links below to stream the Real Audio. 5.06.05- Foxy Nixes Prosecution Plea Offer
At Manhattan Criminal Court, there are defendants, and then there's assault suspect Foxy Brown, whose rap-star glamour incongruously graced the grimy granite building in lower Manhattan yesterday. Brown, 25, tottered in on her high heels to turn down a plea deal that offered her no jail, no probation and no community service. The catch was, she'd have to admit she pummeled two Chelsea nail-salon workers with her fists and cellphone last August, in a fight over payment for a $20 manicure. No go, said the allegedly scrappin' rapper. The Park Slope, Brooklyn-raised Brown — given name Inga Marchand — said she'd rather go to trial than plead guilty to something she didn't do. "I'm confident in the justice system," she explained. "I'm confident I will be exonerated." Most defendants would have jumped at the deal. Then again, most defendants aren't trailed around the courthouse by reporters whose combined wardrobes couldn't match the price tag on just one black-and-white stiletto. And most defendants don't go on to perform raps outside court — on the Centre Street sidewalk — as the TV cameras roll. That's before grabbing oneself a hot dog and shimmying into one's chauffeured, $200,000 Bentley, which comes as a gift from Jay-Z. "I wanted this to be a surprise," Brown told her defense lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, about the following rap lyrics, which she said she'd penned in his honor. "You're about to be in the No. 1 rap song!" Then she rapped, "If you ain't caught me with the nina, I ain't guilty — that's why I hired Tacopina." "Nina" is street slang for a 9 mm gun. "I love this guy," she said of Tacopina, who delighted in the praise — and the free advertising. Then she plugged her upcoming album "Black Rose," and displayed her perfect pink fingernails for the cameras. "I really have a crazy thing for manicures, pedicures," she gushed. "I love getting pampered. I'm such a girly-girl." As for the dust-up at Bloomie Nails on West 23rd Street, Brown has insisted the two salon workers were trying to soak her — and not just her feet — by making her pay for a manicure-pedicure package even though they'd run out of time to do the manicure. She says the fight never got physical. But cops counter that the salon workers were left black and blue from the fracas. Brown is due back in court July 28. Just last week, rumors began spreading that Foxy was involved in a cat fight with Miami rapper Jacki-O. Days later, Jacki and Big D of the Unusual Suspects claimed the Chyna Doll had been knocked down.

"Words were exchanged and the next thing you know Jacki-O knocked her out. Jacki hit her so fast they [the bodyguards] couldn't break it up," Big D told SOHH.com after mentioning that they were set to record a track with Brooklyn rapper Gravy. Meanwhile, Foxy recently called in to a Miami morning show to clear up what she claims is a fabricated story. [Listen below] "This story has been the most erroneous story I ever heard in my entire life. I'm actually sitting back. I told Russell [Simmons] and Jay-Z, I'm awaiting a check from that independent label because I've given this girl the most promotion she's ever received," Fox detailed during the phoner. "Had we been talking about a reputable artist like Lauryn Hill, Trina or Lil Kim, you know somebody who has sold…. we're talking about a person who has never sold one record in their life. I'm almost ashamed to have to address this." During the brief interview, Fox also clarified that she was never slated to record with Jacki-O. Though she admits to telling the poe little rich girl that "she needs to show respect," Fox denied that the encounter turned physical despite. She also abstained from referring to Jacki by name throughout the entire interview. "It was absolutely no Foxy getting hit. Again, I emerged from that studio looking like I was going to the runway. I was about to go pick my homegirl [Trina] up and I got a call to stop by the studio to say hello to friends from Brooklyn," Fox explained. "Keep in mind, Foxy Brown was never in the studio to record with this girl. I've never met her. I've been begged from her manager for three years to record with this girl and I've said no every time. So I think that's where the animosity started because I wouldn't record with her. The whole bottom line of this whole story is jealousy." Fox also took the opportunity to promote her upcoming album, Black Roses and announced that she was no longer doing an MTV reality show. "I was approached by MTV to do a show. They thought my life was so interesting. They're like, ‘Foxy, you're the most controversial female rapper. You're the one that survived through 10 years without the plastic surgery,'" Fox revealed. "They filmed me for about six weeks, but then of course the big boss Jay came in and was like, ‘I don't like the idea of reality.' So, we're trying to pass, but we're gonna work on something else cause MTV and I have a great relationship."
Black Roses is scheduled to hit stores in July.
Foxy Brown Denies Altercation
Reports of the confrontation between the two, female rappers at Circle House Studios in Miami surfaced last week. Jacki O, a native of the city, confirmed that an altercation took place last week in a press release. Brown claimed the opposite in a recent interview. "There were never any blows thrown," Brown said on 99 Jamz's Morning Show in Miami. Sources close to the situation told AllHipHop.com that Brooklyn rapper Gravy was in the studio with Jacki O recording a song titled "Ménage" and invited Brown to the studio with hopes of landing her on the track. Brown appeared on 99 Jamz's Big Lip Bandit Morning Show and gave her side of the story to Big Lip Bandit and Supa Cindy. "This story is the most erroneous story I've heard in my entire life. I am waiting for a check from that independent label because I have given that girl the most promotions she's ever received, ever. Had we been talking about a reputable artist like Lauryn Hill, or Lil' Kim or Trina or someone...We are talking about someone who has never sold a record in their life." Brown said that she was in Miami and was en route to pick up another female rapper, Trina for an evening at popular nightclub Cro Bar.
Foxy explained that the entire incident is rooted in animosity, because for three years, she has refused requests to record with Jacki O.
In the course of the alleged battle, sources stated that Circle House suffered almost $8,000 worth of damage to studio equipment. Reports suggested that Brown's $9,000 Fendi bag was stolen, but Brown refuted the allegations. Brown clarified, "I had the $9,000 Fendi bag when I left that studio." During the interview, Brown revealed that she had intentions on moving to Miami, Florida and would continue with her previous plans, despite the incident with Jacki-O.

4.11.05- Foxy In Court Over Fight.
Hip-hop artist Foxy Brown turned up in Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday to face assault charges for allegedly punching and kicking two workers at a Chelsea nail salon who blocked the door after they claim she refused to pay for a pedicure last summer.
Brown, 25, whose real name is Inga Marchand, allegedly bashed Myoung Yi and Sun Ji Song about 10 p.m. Aug. 27 at Bloomie Nails on West 23rd Street after she got a pedicure, but was denied a manicure because of the late hour, prosecutors say. "She refuses to pay and tries to leave," said Barbara Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney's office. The workers blocked the door, and then her car door. Brown doesn't deny she got into a fight with the manicurists. But her attorney, Joseph Tacopina, said the first officer on the scene didn't notice any injuries on the workers. "This is someone trying to use the criminal justice system to extract money from a celebrity," Tacopina said. Brown also denies that she wouldn't pay for the pedicure. She said she was charged for both a manicure and a pedicure and refused to pay the extra $20. "They didn't give me the manicure," she explained outside the courtroom Monday. She dismissed the idea that she would try to skip out on paying. "A $20 pedicure? Are you serious? Look at me," Brown said, sporting Chanel sunglasses, translucent white nail polish and a Dolce & Gabbana bag. Brown said she's now focusing on an album she's doing with rapper Jay-Z. "I am trying not to be deterred by any negativity," she said. "Justice willing prevail." The rapper was ordered by Judge Evelyn Laporte to stay away from the manicurists and return to court May 6.

Meanwhile, Foxy Brown has hit the streets with "Art Of War," her first record off the forthcoming Black Roses; set to drop on Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam. The cut, which features Just Blaze chopping up Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady," showcases Fox's usual bravado and plenty of big ups to her new boss. "So what the rass clot this?/Game over/Ill Na Na and the god Hova/Like Sebastian Telfair with the crossover/See my cadence is incredible/ I'm sort of like a born soldier," Fox spits. Both joints are buzz singles off Yayo and Brown's respective CDs dropping later this year. Source: Sohh.com IMO, This is good News. I love you Fox but enough with this Jay, S.Carter name dropping. Updated 03.09.05- 'Brown denies manicure mayhem' (NY Daily News)
Foxy Brown will fight a charge of assaulting workers at a Chelsea manicure shop last summer because she didn't beat anyone, her attorney said yesterday.
"It's the most ridiculous thing ever. ... You have a celebrity of substantial wealth being set up for a civil claim," said Brown's lawyer Joseph Tacopina. "It'll either be dismissed or we're going to trial." Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, turned herself in at the 13th Precinct stationhouse Monday night after workers at Bloomie Nails on W. 23 St. complained about her behavior during a visit in August. The curvaceous rap star and Bloomie Nails workers tell different stories about the Aug. 27 incident. Tacopina said Brown offered money for her pedicure but refused to pay for a manicure she didn't get. But worker Michelle Kwak said Brown saw red when workers told her it was too late for a manicure and tried to leave without paying. "[Two people] stopped her and closed the door. ... [One] was punched and kicked by Foxy Brown," said Kwak, who also said her sister, salon owner Myoung Lee, 41, got bashed in the head with Foxy's cell phone. Rapper Foxy Brown surrendered to police last night on a charge of assaulting a manicurist at a Manhattan salon last year after the worker charged her $20 for a pedicure she never got.Brown turned up at the 13th Precinct station house with her lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, to face the misdemeanor assault charge in the Aug. 27 incident at Bloomie Nails on West 23rd Street. According to Tacopina, Foxy wanted a manicure and a pedicure — but got only the manicure. When she refused to pay for the pedicure, two salon workers locked her inside the store and demanded cash. Foxy eventually got away from the women and flagged down a cop, who told her to pay for the manicure and leave. Tacopina claims that the two salon employees are trying to "use the criminal-justice system to extract money from Foxy." The two nailsmiths, whose names have not been released, went to police on the day of the incident, police sources said.
Foxy Brown is steamed about published reports that she was ejected from downtown Manhattan's Chung King Studios last week over a money dispute. Lowdown hears that the razor-tongued rapper - who tiffed with powerful recording-studio owner John King over a claim of unpaid bills - is marshaling arguments for a brewing lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court. Her attorneys are looking at allegations of defamation of character and music piracy, says a source close to the rapper. Team Foxy's version: Back in 2003, bootlegged tracks from her album-in-progress "The Fever" leaked from Chung King Studios to the Internet before the record was released. The 25-year-old Brown - aka Inga Marchand - privately blamed King for the incident, Lowdown hears, but didn't make a fuss to preserve their professional relationship. Then, last week, the Brown camp was told that a second leak had occurred - this time in the form of bootlegged tracks from her upcoming album, "Black Roses." Lowdown hears that Foxy tried and failed to negotiate a resolution. Yesterday, King denied the allegations and told Lowdown he wants to work things out: "I love my clients with all their faults. Foxy has more personality than all the rest of them put together. She's a tigress." Reached for comment, a reluctant Foxy said: "Because there's pending litigation, there's not much I can say. ... I'm an artist whose material was stolen, and my concern, more than anything, is not a one-on-one with John King or the studio. My concern is so no other artist has to go through with this again. It kills your creativity and your workmanship!" As for allegations that Brown owes Chung King money, "Artists are never able to leave the studio with their master recordings without the studio being fully compensated," she said. "Let's just say that I've retained all of my masters." Source: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/285953p-244709c.html

Police were called to eject Foxy Brown from Manhattan's Chung King Studios on Wednesday after the rap diva refused to leave, we have learned. The bootylicious Brown "was ordering everybody around and acting like the new queen of mean," a source told us. "She locked herself in." Eminem, Luciano Pavarotti, the Rolling Stones and Ricky Martin have all managed to record at the legendary studio without incident. But Brown "eats and sleeps at the studio, and she hasn't paid her bills. She owes tens of thousands of dollars," the spy tells us. A source close to Brown tells us: "The studio is owed money, but it's not money that Foxy owes out of her pocket. It will have to be settled between her producers and the studio." A spokeswoman for Brown's label, Def Jam, told us: "She was upset and didn't want to leave when they asked, because she was unsatisfied with how they had handled their security in the past and she wanted to make sure she had all of her masters." Owner John King refused to comment, but a police spokesman told us: "There was definitely a dispute there, and police were called."
In My Opinion Def Jam needs to pay their bills. I wonder if this has something to do with the Fever, the Music business is crazy. Brown "eats and sleeps at the studio" but she doesn't pay her bills? Yeah Ok. I'm glad the studio owner hasn't commented. Miss. Jones also reported this Foxy news and she stated that she wanted to burry the hatchet between the two, and she wants to sit down with Foxy and have a respectable interview. It's about time Miss. Jones let that bulshit from seven years ago go.

Updated 02.16.05- Foxy denies Combs brushed her off! More Goodies?! Don't Forget! Check the New Wall Papers
Rapper Foxy Brown doesn't need a publicist to spin her critics. She does it pretty well all by herself. The 25-year-old Brown, aka Inga Marchand, was so irked about Lowdown's report on Monday - suggesting that Sean Combs stood her up after the Zac Posen show in Bryant Park the other night - that she personally got on the phone to deny any alleged Diddy dis.
"I never call about these stories, because half the time they're not true. The reason I had to get to the bottom of this is because the tone was completely ridiculous," she told Lowdown. "Nothing like that remotely took place - Puffy and I were laughing about it today." Ha, ha. So what really went down? "We were all front row at Zac Posen: Puffy and I and Jay-Z and Russell [Simmons]. Puffy told me, 'We're havin' a party afterward at Glo,' so I said I'd stop by. Afterward I went back to that W [Hotel VIP lounge] area, and some weirdo from W comes over and says, 'Foxy, Puffy says wait for him.' "And I thought, 'That's strange, because I just saw him and if he wanted me to wait, he'd E-mail me or text me on my BlackBerry.' And so I paid him no mind. In order to bring celebrities in they say, 'So and so is waiting for you.' So when I was done with my fruit punch - because I don't drink - I went to meet Naomi [Campbell] at Spice Market." Got it? Foxy added: "When people read stuff like that, people are thinking that Puffy and I had some sort of discord, and it gets tiring." As for Combs' alleged line "Foxy who?" when he was reminded that she was supposedly waiting around for him, Brown insisted, "'Foxy who?' would never come out of Puffy's mouth!" Don't forget to Peep the Rides-Magazine Pictures in the Gallery.
Updated 02.15.05- AllHipHop.com wants to Know if Foxy's Album Has LEGENDS!? More Goodies?! Thats Right, Check out the New Wall Papers
We have good news on this Valentine’s Day 2005. Foxy Brown is working on a new album and its looking like it’s the same temperature as blue fire. Black Roses, the working title, is supposed to feature Jay-Z, Dido (remember “Stan”), Mos Def, Barrington Levy, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, KRS One and her lyrical predecessor Roxanne Shante. We can’t imagine an album this dope from a commercial rapper, but that’s the word. Word is, her and Bleek are sparring with who should come out first, but it appears that Bleek is going to win this won. We’ll gladly wait.
Seems like Foxy is getting attention everywhere these days. Every move she makes is reported and this is exactly what I want to see. Hater's can say what they want, but there is something special about Foxy, and that something separates her from every other female rapper. I can't even call what it is but i know this, everytime Fox is about to do something everyone is feinging and talking about it and when your gone for four years, that is Amazing!
Updated-02.14.05- Why Foxy got huffy over Puffy
At the Zac Posen fashion show in Bryant Park the other night, Lowdown hears, His Diddyness passed word to the 25-year-old Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, to meet him in the W Hotel's VIP lounge after the show.
Reports a Lowdown spy: "Foxy was waiting in there with her assistant, having a drink. She kept asking when Puffy was coming back to see her. She kept pacing around and was getting huffy." Eventually, handlers reminded Combs - who was basking backstage with Posen, the designer for his Sean Jean clothing line - of his engagement. Says the spy, "They told him Foxy was getting antsy in the lounge, and he was like, 'Foxy who?' And then he rolled his eyes and was like, 'Whatever,' and left with his entourage out the backstage door - which is like 10 feet away from the W lounge. She was obviously miffed about the whole thing." A spurned Foxy showed up later with Naomi Campbell at Combs and Posen's after-the-afterparty at nightclub Glo. Combs' PR rep told Lowdown that Foxy had actually been invited to a third party - this one for MAC cosmetics.
"I'm sure there was a misunderstanding," said the rep. "Puffy invited Foxy to join him after at the MAC party and his own party to celebrate Zac's success at Glo."

Updated- 01.25.05 Fox & Grav were Up at Hot97 with Clue last night having "Real Talk."
Black Roses is going to be Bananas people. Foxy has a nice amount of collabo’s on the album. Jay-Z is on a song or two, Dido is featured on "the Letter Part II". Also Roxanne Shante, KRS-one, and Rakim teamed up and are on a Remix to the Club banger Magnetic. She also will have a joint with her boy Gravy on the album, Gravy is like the ruffest rhymer out of BK right now. Barrington Levy is on the album as we all know he is one of Foxy's close friends and they will continue the Yard Hip Hop thing on "Oh Yeah Pt. II" and Mos Def will also make an appearance on the album, the title for that cut is still unknown. Foxy also touched on some broke bitches, Does Remy ring a Bell? Yes, thats the bum bitch. Fox let Remy know that she isn’t concerned with her, I mean after all she came in the door "32 grams raw" and that was at the age of 15 which was 10 years ago. Foxy is definitely serious this time around, she is purchasing estates handling her business and the God Jahova has her back when it comes to the Music. On a better note Foxy shouted out Lauryn Hill, Babs and the Up and Coming Donna Black! She said Babs is great she loves her and the respect she has, we already know L-Boogie is her girl and she said Donna Black is insane on the Mic! A Firm Reunion may be in the near future people! That’s right, Jay is trying to organize something between Nas, AZ and Cormega the original Firm members for Foxy’s album! And People say Jay ain’t riding for Fox? Hmmmm. All I know is Fox is Focussed she was freestyling like a beast and she sounded happy and comfortable and if you didn’t know if your looking for some Pizza or Coffee in Brooklyn you can stop by one of Foxy’s Papa Johns or StarBucks. Oh and for all the Guys that wanna Holla at Fox, she's 25 and Single and ready to mingle for the first time in her Career, she's the ultimate Dime to have by your side!
Spotting:Foxy was also Spotted at 40/40 on the 19th.
Updated 01.11.05 -Happy New Year Foxy Brown is the First Lady of the Roc.
Mtv's Official Report- Jay-Z Brings Pal Foxy Brown Back To Def Jam (7:54 PM EST) Signing is his first since becoming label's president and CEO. Jay-Z's barely had time to print up new business cards, but already Def Jam's new president and CEO has signed an artist to the label: Foxy Brown. Foxy's reps aren't giving away too many details right now, but they said she's been in the studio working on her next album (see "Foxy Brown Planning Comeback With Help From Jay-Z, Shyne") and that she spent part of Tuesday in the Def Jam offices. Foxy and Jay's official reunion certainly comes as no surprise. She performed several dates with him during both the Best of Both Worlds and "Jay-Z and Friends" tours last fall, and even before that, Fox was telling everyone that she was going to be a part of Jay's S. Carter imprint — an imprint that has yet to come into existence in light of the rap mogul's new Def Jam job (see "Jay-Z, Dame Dash Sell Roc-A-Fella Records; Jay Named Def Jam Prez"). After her last LP, Broken Silence, dropped on Def Jam four years ago, Foxy recorded an LP called Ill Nana 2: The Fever, which was never released (see "Foxy Brown Claims She's Misunderstood, Collaborates With Lauryn Hill On New LP"). She then left her only recording home and has been in the lab recording material for an album tentatively titled Black Roses. Barrington Levy, Dido and Luther Vandross are among her collaborators on that material. Besides Foxy's new LP, projects on the horizon under the Def Jam umbrella include records from 112, Mariah Carey and Memphis Bleek.
